Coach Cristian Departs

Coach Burckhalter Interim DOC
DOC Tim Cristian has accepted a new position at the Legacy Soccer Club in Williamsburg, VA. Coach Cristian, Carolyn, Bailey and Cole are moving 'home again' to be nearer their families. We sincerely appreciate all that Coach Cristian has done for DGSC during his time here. Rest assured that DGSC will continue down the successful and visionary path Coach Cristian has set for our Club. Assistant DOC Steve Burckhalter will assume all DOC responsibilities as the interim Director of Coaching. As a result of Coach Cristian's move, the following coaching re-assignments have been made:
- U10G - Mike Orr
- U10B - Ryan Beier
- U11G - Steve Burckhalter
- U17B - Russ Townsend
We wish Coach Cristian all the best in his new adventure. He will be missed. |
New Avera/DGSC 'Together For Kids' Mini-Camp

 MLS Players Participate in Exciting New Event
Former MLS players Chris Houser (Tampa Bay Mutiny, DGSC) and Chris Brunt (KC Wizards, Minnesota Thunder) will join Avera and DGSC in hosting a youth player mini-camp June 4, 5 and 6. All proceeds from the camp will benefit the national TOGETHER FOR KIDS healthcare initiative.
The mini-camp is for players age 5 to 14, and will be held at Lions Centennial Park in Sioux Falls. Stay tuned for the details and sign up information!

Player Cross-Training Guidelines

 The Process for Training With Other Teams Cross-training (age & gender) is a cornerstone of our player development philosophy and a big perk to being a DGSC player. This philosophy allows training opportunities with other age groups and genders to challenge a player.
In order to be effective and not disruptive; however, we are developing some guidelines for the process. Here are the draft guidelines...

 Orders Due March 31st
We are now taking Spring orders for DGSC Spirit Wear. Sample sizes of sweatshirts are available at the DG office. The deadline to place an order at the DG office is March 31st. No late orders will be accepted. Click here for an order form.

Upcoming VSA Friendlies
|
|
Five DGSC teams will travel to Vision Soccer Academy in Waukee, IA for a round of friendly games on March 29 and 30. DGSC's U11B, U13B, U14B and two U11G teams will attend.
Several VSA teams attended DGSC's Canadian friendlies event last August at the training grounds. We are pleased to continue this relationship with a great club and look forward to the competition. Click on the logo above to visit the Vision website.

Discussions with Sioux Falls Soccer Association
DGSC Executive Committee members have held several meetings over the past few months with members of the Sioux Falls Soccer Association Executive Board. As with the discussions we have had with SFSA in the past, these current discussions are focusing on the pros and cons of a combined organization. At this time, no decisions have been reached and the discussions are ongoing.
Be assured that the Executive Committee is proceeding with care and consideration, with a full understanding of our responsibilities to our Dakota Gold families. We will keep you updated to any news of note through this newsletter, as conditions warrant.
