Dear Dakota Gold Family:
Dakota Gold has undergone many changes this past year. You have welcomed many with open arms. Some have required us to step back and think, “What are they doing”. After coming forward with your questions and concerns, you have embraced the change. Thank you. Please understand that none of the changes have been done without careful consideration and discussion. The Executive Committee is a group of wonderful family people who want the best for the children involved in this program.
There has been some confusion on the Club’s approach to Advanced League and I would like to clarify our position. The Executive Committee has not MANDATED that Challenge players not play Advanced League. This rumor is untrue and should be stopped. Here is the whole story.
We have asked ONLY the U11 families (those beoming U12 this Fall) to consider what they want their level of commitment to the club to be. The Challenge team will be increasing their number of practices and friendlies. We wanted those families to be aware that playing both club and Advanced League could be a large commitment. It was recommended that the Challenge team forego Advanced League. But it was left up to each family. Thus it becomes a family decision if the child plays club and Advanced League. The Classic level U11 team will be encouraged to participate in the Advanced League. Therefore, those children should be attending SFSA Advanced League tryouts. Please reference the SFSA web site for times.
If you are a player above this age group, this recommendation does not affect you. Please make a family decision.
In the future should be have any questions or concerns about what you hear, please contact one of the board members or Tim Cristian immediately. All of their contact numbers are on the web site. The rumor mill can be vicious and destructive. I know that our families are above this type of behavior.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Blankers
President
