A benefit of belonging to DGSC is the ability to train with other age groups and genders. This allows our players to gain valuable playing experience against more advanced players, thus aiding in their overall development. In order to ensure that this experience is beneficial for
all players, we have set guidelines for those players who desire these additional opportunities.
If you desire other training opportunities outside of your current team, here are the steps in the process. It's easy.
- Remember, you should not just 'show up' at a new practice, you generally need to be invited.
- Talk to your existing coach and/or the DOC and let him/her know you want more training opportunities.
- You should still attend your normal practices
- The coaches (your coach and the 'new' coach) will discuss your request and search for an additional challenging age- and skill-appropriate training environment that is right for you. This includes several considerations on the DGSC part:
- we want to make sure the player is appropriately challenged, not impossibly challenged;
- we want to make sure the 'new' team is in a position to accept new players at training (numbers considerations, training sequence, etc)
- We will discuss the opportunities with the player making the request.
We don't want the 'process' to get in the way of our players and their development. This just gives us the opportunity to inform everyone involved, and keep
all of our players happy and appropriately challenged. We want all of our coaches to be aware of who, what, and how many are at their training sessions so our practices have as much impact and effectiveness as possible.
